Then in 1991 and 1992 came Strathclyde Park where we had two weekend events with outside stage and camping. First mistake - there was not supposed to be any camping and we needed planning permission to erect a stage (as T in the Park found out when they tried the same thing). Also the music and bar had to stop by midnight - not a lot of use to us. So, we had a bit of a break and helped other clubs organise events as well all know some authorities are not keen on bikers of any sort.
June 2001, we moved to Eglinton Country Park, Irvine where had a "7" weekend events annually in a lovely setting, and good facilities. But, again, it was a public park and increasing success meant it got too big.
June 2008, will see us at a new site at Drymen Show Field, which is near Loch Lomond. We look forward to greeting you all and may the success continue.
I would like to thank all the motorcycle clubs, bands (old and new), motorcycle shops, sponsors and official personnel from mainly Strathclyde region but all over Europe, and of course the many visitors that have made these events possible and a success.
Sadly one of our team, Tam McCully, who was a major organiser to us passed away on the 13th April 2004 at the age of 42.
Alba West is open to anyone who likes motorbikes, music and a bit of a party. Disabled people gain entry free and we make sure there are disabled facilities and a wheelchair friendly environment wherever possible. All sorts of different people come and the aim is for their enjoyment.
Last year we had a load of kids from Russia. Some people have said that it is the first time they have camped without help.
